Changing Your Link / URL or Page Name on Facebook

Changing Your Link / URL or Page Name on Facebook

When you first create a Facebook page, the link to it is not very pretty, something like: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083813838015 and it lacks your branding of your business.  But it is possible to change the link to get to your page, making it easier to market and have customers find your business on Facebook.  Also perhaps you need to change the name of your page, that is also possible.  Below are the quick steps to accomplish these marketing changes on Facebook.  I recommend using a computer for these steps, as they don't appear to be on the mobile facebook applications.

1) Log into Facebook on a computer.
2) Change to the profile for your business page:  In this example, we are going to change our "LoyalShops Test Page 8" with a generic "https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083813838015" link to be branded with our demo store branding "Your Boutique".   You can see it below, the link is non-branded and very long.  Customer unlikely to type this in or get it right.  Also, the name of the page is LoyalShops Test Page 8 and we want it to reflect the name of our business.

You can see top right the circle dog profile matches the page showing me that I have switched to the pages profile picture so I can manage/ make changes to the page.

3) Click on this link and it will take you straight to the branding page in Facebook for your business page.  https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=profile

4) Below was the entry of LoyalShops Test Page 8 that hasn't been updated since the page was created.  Editing Username is how you brand the link for your page.

5) Hit the blue Edit button right of "Username".  As you can see below, your first choice may not be available, so try an easy to spell variation if needed.

Success, have a name that is available and very similar easy to type from the initial name of my business, so hit save at this point to change your name.  For this example, the page URL goes from "facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083813838015" to facebook.com/YourBoutique2" and that is a much better marketing name for my Facebook Business Page URL.

While I was at it, I also changed the page name with the Name option from "LoyalShops Test Page 8" to "Your Boutique 2" as well.  Below you can see the updated changes in URL and Page Name live and functional!   You can now share this new URL you created with your customers so they can find your business page easier.

Now Add A Follow Button In Your Live Service

While I was at it, I went into my Live Assistant or Live Assistant Pro, and added a "Follow" custom keyword to direct my customers on live shows to follow my business page.

So under either the Live Assistant or Live Assistant Pro main menus is Settings and clicking on that and scrolling to the bottom, you will find the Custom Keyword Section, where you are likely to already see Help and Register.

See below I added "follow" as a Custom word and some text to give them steps to follow my business page.  Then make sure right below, to Enable the Response Comment on that entry to turn it on.  Now in the live if you or any viewer comments "Follow" our live service will comment back this follow sentences with the link.
